Helm and his people are forced to make a daring final stand in the ancient stronghold of the Hornburg, which will later become known as Helm’s Deep. Otto, who starred in the films based on The Lord of the Rings, returns to her role as Éowyn, Shieldmaiden of Rohan, and also takes on the role of the story’s narrator.

Philippa Boyens, who won an Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay for her work on The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit trilogies, is serving as the film’s executive producer, while Joseph Chou is serving as the film’s producer (Blade Runner: Black Lotus TV series).

The screenplay was written by Phoebe Gittins and Arty Papageorgiou, based on a script written by Jeffrey Addiss and Will Matthews, which was based on the novel The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King written by J.R.R. Tolkien.
