Announcement of Call of Duty and Terminator Crossover!
Legacy action series appear to be the ideal target for crossovers in service games, regardless of whether or not the crossover actually makes any sense.
Announcement of Call of Duty and Terminator Crossover
Activision has announced that its popular first-person shooter franchise, Call of Duty, will feature a crossover event with the Terminator film series at some point in the future.
This news comes on the heels of the announcement that Call of Duty will feature a number of crossovers in the past.
While the collaboration was teased on the Call of Duty Twitter account by a chunk of mimetic poly-alloy (the same metal used to create Terminators) with the Skynet logo stamped into it, Activision detailed a portion of the Terminator cosmetics in a post describing the game’s upcoming season.
In the post, Activision described how players will be able to customize their Terminator characters.
Players have the opportunity to purchase a limited-time bundle that includes the T-1000 advanced prototype, as shown in the picture to the right, in addition to additional limited-time bundles that have not yet been disclosed.
Later on, in the season, we will have more information to share regarding these drops. It has been a few years since Skynet’s killer machines were featured in a video game, but they are not unfamiliar with this form of corporate synergy at all.
Arnold has made cameo appearances as the Terminator in video games such as WWE and Mortal Kombat, despite the fact that he did not provide the voice for the character in the latter. Additionally, Sarah Connor made an appearance in Gears 5 to coincide with the release of Terminator: Dark Fate.
This Terminator crossover event will take place as part of Season 4: Mercenaries of Fortune, which will begin on June 22 in both Warzone and Call of Duty: Vanguard. Season 4: Mercenaries of Fortune will feature both games.
The new season adds several new features, including the anticipated upgrade to the battle pass, a new battle royale map called Fortune’s Keep, more Operators, additional firearms, two new venues for PVP multiplayer, a replica of a Zombies map from Call of Duty: World at War, and a great deal more.
