Howard Peter Guber is an American corporate leader, entrepreneur, educator, and author. He was born on March 1, 1942. He is the chairman and chief executive officer of Mandalay Entertainment.

Early Life
Peter Guber was born on March 1st, 1942 in the city of Boston, which is located in the state of Massachusetts. After completing his high school education, he went on to study at Syracuse University.
Tara, who would later become his wife, was one of the people he met at Syracuse. They tied the knot in 1964.
Following his time at Syracuse, Guber pursued a legal education by enrolling at New York University. In the months leading up to his graduation, he decided to accept a position with Columbia Pictures as a management trainee.

During his time at Columbia, Peter brought the company’s file and tracking systems into the 21st century by switching from an antiquated paper-based system to a modern computerized one.
Soon after, he was elevated to the position of chief of production in the United States. In 1973, he was given the position of vice president of production for the entire company. When he was appointed vice president, he was only 26 years old.
During his tenure at Columbia, Guber was responsible for the production of a number of critically acclaimed films, including “Shampoo,” “Taxi Driver,” and “The Way We Were.”
At the very least, a small part of “Shampoo” was based on the experiences that Gubers had with Jon Peters, a man who would go on to play an incredibly significant role in Gubers’ life.

Peter eventually left Columbia to start his own business, which he named Filmworks after he went independent from the company. As an independent producer, he was responsible for the production of “The Deep” in the year 1977.
On a budget of only nine million dollars, the movie ended up collecting more than one hundred million dollars worldwide, making it one of the highest-grossing films of the year.
Peter united Filmworks with Casablanca Records, which was previously owned by Neil Boggart, in the year 1976. Records by Kiss and Donna Summer were undoubtedly Casablanca’s most commercially successful offerings to the public. Bogart died in 1982.

In 1979, Peter and another producer named Jon Peters established Polygram Productions as a joint venture.

As a direct consequence of this development, Jon Peters and Peter Guber were promoted inside Sony Pictures to the position of co-Chairman. Up until that moment, they had no prior experience managing a significant studio.
While Peters and Guber were in charge of Sony, the company produced dozens of pictures, many of them were quite high profile and very expensive, but the majority of them were unsuccessful.
They were ultimately responsible for Sony losing more than $3 billion in revenue during the tenure of Peters and Guber because they oversaw the expenditure of $8 billion on production and other costs.
