On August 31, 2021, Hulu debuted the first season of ten episodes. The plot concerns three strangers (Steve Martin, Martin Short, and Selena Gomez) who are obsessed with a real crime podcast.
After a strange death in their upscale Upper West Side apartment building, the Arconia, the three neighbors decide to create a podcast about their investigation of the suicide-ruled death.
Critics have praised the series’ comic approach to crime fiction, as well as the performances and chemistry of the principal actors. Hulu renewed the series in September 2021 for a second season, which debuted on June 28, 2022.

Only Murders in the Building Season 2 Cast
Season 2 of Only Murders in the Building will be led by its three leads: Steve Martin as semi-retired actor Charles-Haden Savage, Martin Short as struggling Broadway director Oliver Putnam, and Selena Gomez as aspiring designer Mabel Mora.
Joining them are returning cast members:
- Nathan Lane as Teddy Dimas
- Amy Ryan portrays Jan, the ex-girlfriend of Charles and the murderer of Tim.
- Da’Vine Joy Randolph in the role of Detective Williams
- Tina Fey as true-crime podcast host Cinda Canning
- Jackie Hoffman as building resident Uma Heller
- Jayne Houdyshell as Bunny, a dead board member of Arconia
Season 2 introduces several new characters. Cara Delevingne will play Alice, a sophisticated art world insider who becomes entangled in the mystery and becomes Mabel’s romantic interest.
Michael Rapaport is also joining the cast as Detective Kreps, who is investigating the murder of Bunny. In January, Short introduced two additional prominent new cast members.
Before Christmas, he shot sequences with Shirley MacLaine and Amy Schumer, he said to Deadline. This show’s ability to recruit talented actors makes it a pleasure to go to work every day.”
MacLaine will portray Bunny’s mother, whilst Schumer will portray a clone of herself. Steve Martin announced on Twitter that Andrea Martin and Zoe Colletti will also appear in the second season of Only Murders in the Building.
