Casting calls for season 14 were issued in November 2020, and season 13 champion Symone introduced the cast on VH1 on December 2, 2021. It was the most-watched debut since Season 10 with 738,000 people.

The winner of the season was Willow Pill, who became the first transgender competitor to win the main franchise of RuPaul’s Drag Race and the fourth transgender candidate to win altogether.

The runner-up was Lady Camden. Miss Congeniality was awarded to Kornbread “The Snack” Jeté, the first transgender contestant to win the title.

The season included the first straight, cisgender male participant, Maddy Morphosis. Notably, the season also featured five transgender contestants:

Kerri Colby and Kornbread “The Snack” Jeté, Jasmine Kennedie, Bosco (who also came out as a trans woman as the season aired), and Willow Pill.

After losing a lip-sync, each contender must unwrap a chocolate bar; the contestant whose bar contains a golden bar is spared elimination. The twist remained until episode 12 when Bosco’s ownership of the golden chocolate bar was exposed.

This season’s grand finale included five contestants, a first in the history of the competition. In addition, the victorious queen was awarded a monetary prize of $150,000, the greatest sum awarded for a regular season to date.

The runner-up won a monetary reward of $50,000. It is also the first series in which a single queen had to lip-sync for her life five times; Jorgeous survived four lip-syncs before being eliminated.
