Shawn Mendes Will Take Three Weeks Off to Focus on His Mental Health!
Mendes announced the postponement of his next gigs on Instagram and Twitter, writing, “This crushes my heart to have to tell this, but sadly I’m going to have to postpone the next three weeks of shows through Uncasville, CT till further notice.”
“I began touring when I was 15 years old, and to tell you the truth, it has always been challenging for me to be away from my friends and family while I’m on the road.
After a few years away from the road, I felt like I was ready to jump back in, but that decision was premature. Unfortunately, the toll that the road has taken on me and the pressure that I’ve been under has caught up to me, and I’ve reached a point where I can no longer continue.
Mendes continued his post by saying, “After meeting with my team and health professionals, I have determined that I need to take some time to recuperate and take care of myself and my mental health, first and foremost.”
“I promise that as soon as there are any further updates, I will let you know about them. Love you guys.”
Mendes was scheduled to perform on Saturday night in St. Paul, Minnesota, but as he explained in his statement, he will be taking a break from touring until July 29 when he will play in Uncasville, Connecticut.
Omaha, Nebraska; Milwaukee; Rosemont, Illinois; St. Louis; Cleveland; Pittsburgh; Charlotte, North Carolina; Raleigh, North Carolina; Philadelphia; and Washington, District of Columbia are some of the other places that will have time off as a result of the holiday.
In the comment section, other musicians such as Maggie Rogers, Given, Brett Eldredge, and Remi Wolf, amongst others, showed their admiration and support for Mendes by posting hearts and other sentiments for the pop sensation.
