In other words, The seventh season of Grantchester begins during the long, hot summer of 1959 when the Cambridgeshire village is in the midst of wedding season.

The issue of what the future holds is on everyone’s mind, including Will’s, as the start of a new decade approaches. However, before the 1950s give way to the Swinging Sixties, there are crimes to investigate and life-altering decisions to make that may alter Grantchester for all time.
Anglican clergyman and former Scots Guards officer Sidney Chambers (James Norton) and his successor Will Davenport (Tom Brittney) form an unexpected relationship with the overworked Detective Inspector Geordie Keating (Robson Green) to solve crimes in the 1950s Cambridgeshire village of Grantchester.
Chambers’ more intuitive ways of eliciting information from witnesses and suspects are complemented by Keating’s rough, analytical approach to policing.
Several subplots concern Leonard Finch’s homosexuality prior to the decriminalization of male homosexuality in England and Wales (1967).
