Salem’s Lot Movie Cast: When and Where Can You Watch It?
“Salem’s Lot” is gearing up for its third screen adaptation, and this time it will be a feature film rather than another TV miniseries.
Consider this the knock on the window from the pale, floating lad with fangs and dark circles around his eyes if you’re a fan of Stephen King’s 1975 vampire novel or any of its adaptations.
He wants in, and you’ll want to keep reading to learn everything we know about the impending “Salem’s Lot” picture.
What Is Salem’s Lot?
“Salem’s Lot” is the first film version of King’s novel, reimagining “Dracula” in twentieth-century America. Instead of England, the vampire travels to New England.
Kurt Barlow is his name, and he is joined by a human familiar named Richard Straker (whose name is a nod to Bram Stoker, the author of “Dracula”).
Barlow invades Jerusalem’s Lot, also known as Salem’s Lot, which serves as the backdrop for the Epix series “Chapelwaithe,” starring Adrien Brody. “Salem’s Lot” has already been turned into two television miniseries.
The first premiered on CBS in 1979, and the second on TNT in 2004, a quarter-century later. They starred David Soul and Rob Lowe, respectively, and the 1970s version (directed by Tobe Hooper) is usually considered superior.
When and Where Can You Watch Salem’s Lot?
“Salem’s Lot” was initially scheduled to be released on September 9, 2022. However, the film’s release date has been pushed back until April 21, 2023.
Warner Bros. Pictures will distribute the picture, released in a 45-day theatrical window in 2022, after being released simultaneously on HBO Max throughout 2021.

We’ve been following casting news for “Salem’s Lot” since the beginning, tracking the arrival of names like Lewis Pullman, who portrayed the bellboy in “Bad Times at the El Royale” and who will be taking over the starring part of Ben Mears, a character previously played by Soul and Lowe.
Alfre Woodard and Bill Camp co-starred in HBO’s “The Outsider” (another King adaption) in 2019. William Sadler has appeared in all three of Frank Darabont’s cinematic adaptations of Stephen King: “The Shawshank Redemption,” “The Green Mile,” and “The Mist.”
In addition to these actors, there is Makenzie Leigh from “The Assistant” and Spencer Treat Clark from “Unbreakable” and “Glass,” who played the son of Bruce Willis’ character.

Production of Salem’s Lot
Salem’s Lot is based on Stephen King’s 1975 novel of the same name. The New Line Cinema feature picture was announced in April 2019 when The Hollywood Reporter stated Gary Dauberman was set to write the screenplay and executive produce, with James Wan engaged as a producer.
In an interview, Dauberman was asked if he would use the same writing approach he used for It (2017) and It Chapter Two (2019), adaptations of Stephen King’s novel of the same name, to which he replied, “I don’t know.”
“I try to stay as true to the story as possible until it becomes too long for a film. I’m incredibly excited to be a part of it and to confront it. It hasn’t yet been given the big-screen treatment, which is how I felt about It.
It’s so much fun to mess about vampires and create something terrifying. I haven’t seen that that’s something in a long time, and I’m happy for people to see it.”
Dauberman was named director in April 2020. Lewis Pullman was chosen to play the film’s prominent role in August 2021. Principal photography began in September in Boston with cinematographer Michael Burgess.
In Massachusetts, filming took place in Ipswich and the towns of Sterling and Clinton, both in Worcester County. The Princeton Public Library in Princeton, Massachusetts, was also hired for three days of filming.
The additional shooting took place in late May or early June 2022. Nathan Barr and Lisbeth Scott composed the score during post-production.
