Gone Game Season 1: Review
Sahil Gujral (Arjun Mathur) is tested for coronavirus after returning from Bangkok, and the results indicate that he is afflicted. He is then sent to Janki Sadan hospital. Soon after, Sahil’s powerful family hears that he has died and that the hospital handles the cremation arrangements.
Amara Gujral (Shweta Tripathi Sharma), Sahil’s sister, receives a phone call from her deceased brother as she struggles to accept her loss. Amara contemplates the prospect of deliberate murder. Is it just the speculation of a heartbroken sister?
Then she gets suspicious of the circumstances surrounding her brother’s murder and connects the dots, leading to a horrifying revelation. The truth will come to light over time. It will be broadcast on Voot on August 20, 2020.
In “The Gone Game,” which is set in the present, the main characters deal with the pandemic’s onslaught. It told the story of a family’s tribulations in late March and early April when everything was put on hold owing to the unexpected declaration of a statewide lockdown. The Gujral family was also scattered and stranded in different towns.
For example, Sahil’s father, Rajeev Gujral (Sanjay Kapoor), lives in Delhi. His mother, Suneeta (Rukhsar Rehman), was stranded in Lucknow, his sister Amara was in Bangalore, and his wife Suhani (Shriya Pilgaonkar) was in Mumbai at the same time.
They were all housed with him in separate rooms due to Sahil’s presence. Their helplessness at being unable to be together under such terrible circumstances was brilliantly expressed. However, the pandemic and the neighbors’ responses attracted more attention than the plot surrounding Sahil’s mysterious death.
Nikhil Nagesh Bhat’s ‘The Gone Game’ is a four-part serial that runs about 28 minutes each. The plot stays faithful to its goal of leveraging the Covid-19 problem as one of the critical plot drives.

The plot begins with Sahil’s sickness and apparent signs of corona positive. Later episodes, however, aim to highlight multiple threads, and the plot line becomes increasingly disorganized with each episode.
The script is terrible, and there is no point in the series where it can be improved. Because it was recorded during the extreme lockdown, most scenes are understandably done via video conversations. It appears refreshing at first, but that feeling disappears after a while.
The television show, co-written by Mautik Tolia, Nikhil Nagesh Bhat, and Ayesha Syed, succumbs to penning predictable twists and turns, and all of our fears are realized. Parallel plotlines involving Dr. Prateek Jindal’s (Indraneil Sengupta) involvement with Amara and Advocate Choudhary’s (Dibyendu Bhattacharya) blackmailing of Rajeev are not developed properly.
The story could have evolved into a gripping thriller with a longer running time. Overall, the chaotic conditions are sufficiently hyped and have the desired effect; nonetheless, the bad writing does not appear capable of supporting the pressure of keeping the storyline’s intensity with decent character development.
After a long absence, Sanjay Kapoor returns to the lead role and plays Rajeev, a protective father, brilliantly. The latter is willing to go to any length to discover the truth about his son’s murder.
Shweta Tripathi Sharma, who plays Amara, does a beautiful job of convincing us to feel all the emotions the character feels. She also does an excellent job as the audience’s eyes and ears during the murder mystery.
Shriya Pilgaonkar, a well-known social media personality, also plays Suhani. Arjun Mathur, Rukhsar Rehman, and Indraneil Sengupta are outstanding supporting actors who substantially contribute to the current drama.
Overall, “The Gone Game” succeeds in holding your attention during the first act but fails to build a bond with its viewers.
