Jason Steven Plummer was born in Boise, Idaho on 19 December 1974 to Steve and Marilyn Plummer. In Smiley Creek, a 50-person community in the Sawtooth Mountains, he was raised in the family’s lumber mill and storage facility. Two older brothers precede him.

College Career

On a football scholarship, Plummer attended Arizona State University. He was selected to the all-conference team as a junior, but he never led the Pac-10 in statistically relevant categories.

As a junior, Plummer threw for 2,222 yards and 17 touchdowns; as a senior, he threw for more than 2,000 yards and 17 touchdowns.

His senior year in 1996 was possibly the best in school history. In 1996, he led Arizona State to an undefeated regular season and the Pac-10 championship. Late in the fourth quarter of the Rose Bowl, he scored the game-winning touchdown on an 11-yard run.
