Kevin Feige, president of Marvel Studios, has been working on the Marvel Cinematic Universe for more than 15 years, and he has become quite skilled at keeping information segregated.
As a result, when it came time for Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah to shoot the now-famous moment in which Kamala Khan is allegedly revealed to be a mutant, they had to accomplish it with virtually no context. This included using the recognizable song from the original X-Men cartoon.
“Yeah, so when we read the scene, the screenplay, we had a bunch of questions which were not answered,” El Arbi adds. “
When we watched the sequence, we had no idea what was going on.” “The only thing that was required of you was to film this and add some music to it, and that was all. To put it simply, that’s the only piece of information we have.
According to the director of the series, Bilall Fallah, this means that they, along with everyone else, will find out what the full ramifications of Kamala Khan’s distinctive genetics are.
“We are just aware of the scene that will be in the conclusion. It is certainly a great pleasure to have that, and it is also a great honor to have that iconic song included as a small part of the soundtrack; nevertheless, that is it. We will have to discover it,” Fallah says.
It was a strategy that had been used before by the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU); it wasn’t as obvious as Loki, which had to devote what amounted to its whole conclusion to creating a huge new antagonist, but it was still very noticeable.
Also, it was successful. The day that the conclusion of Ms. Marvel was released on Disney Plus, social media was flooded with reactions to the carefully placed musical cue and the subsequent cameo by Brie Larson.
Larson made an unexpected appearance in Kamala’s bedroom in a scene that was shot by Nia DaCosta, the director of The Marvels.
Because Nia DaCosta was filming the Marvels with Brie and obviously Iman Vellani, that particular scene was directed by Nia DaCosta.
“We didn’t know that scene was going to be made, and she didn’t really realize that it needed to be for our show, so we discovered it while we were calibrating the episodes,” Fallah says.
“Same thing, she didn’t really know that that scene needed to be for our show.” “[Feige] did not share any information with Nia, and he also did not share any information with us.
He just spoke the words, “Shoot this.” But I suppose it’s what puts Kamala somewhere in that cosmos, and who knows where she is right now.”
