Amateur and College Professions
During a visit to “The Mike Douglas Show” in 1978, Tiger competed against the comedian Bob Hope. Over nine holes, he shot a 48 at age three. At the age of five, he appeared in “Golf Digest” and “That’s Incredible!” on ABC.
At the age of six, Tiger won the Under Age 10 division of the Drive, Pitch, and Putt competition held at the Navy Golf Course in Cypress, California. At age eight, he won the 9–10 boys’ event at the Junior World Golf Championships, the youngest age category eligible.
He reached 80 for the first time that same year. Tiger has won six Junior World Championships, including four in a row from 1988 to 1991.
