The sole child of Douglas Edward Paisley and Sandra Jean Paisley, Paisley was born in 1972 in Glen Dale, West Virginia. Brad Paisley’s granddad gave him his first guitar and instilled in him a love for country music when he was eight years old.
At the age of 13, he had written his first song, “Born on Christmas Day,” and joined his first band, “Brad Paisley and the C-Notes.” He had his first public appearance singing in his church, and by the age of 13, he had composed his first song, “Born on Christmas Day,” and joined his first band.

Brad Paisley made his professional singing debut in 1999 with the song “Who Needs Pictures” on the label Arista Nashville. In May of 1999, he made his debut at the Grand Ole Opry. “He Didn’t Have to Be” was his first No. 1 hit in December 1999.
In 2002, he received both the Country Music Association’s Horizon Award and the Academy of Country Music’s award for best new male vocalist.
A year later, he was nominated for his first Grammy Award for Best New Artist. “I’m Gonna Miss Her (The Fishin’ Song)” earned Paisley the CMA Music Video of the Year award in 2002.
All three of his other singles from the album “Part II” reached the Top 10 on the charts. By August 2002, the album had spent over 70 weeks on the charts and was certified platinum.
