When John Henry Irons (Wole Parks) and David Ramsey’s John Diggle met at Smallville’s cafe in the season 2 finale, John Diggle hinted about a new antagonist.
Diggle gave Irons a folder with information on Bruno Mannheim, a notorious felon who is most likely to blame for killing the Irons from Earth. The third season will mark Mannheim’s live-action premiere.

Showrunner Todd Helbing recently spoke to Den of Geek about how Mannheim will be the main antagonist in the forthcoming episode: “Every year, at some point, I talk to DC, and there’s a deck that’s constructed that tells us who are the characters that we can explore.
“I submit requests, and there are paths I can take—sometimes fully, sometimes partially, and occasionally not. We come up with a different version of it if it isn’t at all.
He continued, “Bruno will play a significant role in season 3 and substantially impact several individuals. Several components could lead us to a specific location if you watch seasons 1 and 2.
The Plotline for Superman and Lois Season 3
The second season of Superman & Lois concluded with an action-packed ending that teased a character who could be the big adversary in the following season.
Diggle’s chance meeting with John Henry Irons (Wole Parks) at Smallville reveals the main antagonist. Diggle handed Irons a folder with information about Bruno Mannheim, an infamous criminal who may be responsible for the death of Irons’ Earth counterpart.
He is the boss of Intergang, an organized crime unit that happens to be armed with New Gods weaponry.

When asked why he chose Mannheim as the key villain in Superman and Lois season three, showrunner Todd Helbing explained to Den of Geek: “Every year, at some time, I talk to DC, and there’s a deck that’s prepared that tells us which characters we may investigate.”
I make requests, and there are paths I can take, sometimes entirely, sometimes partially, and sometimes not. If it isn’t, we create a different version of it.”
“Bruno is going to be a significant component of season three and will have a huge impact on several people,” he added. And if you watch seasons one and two, you’ll notice a lot of elements in place that may lead us to a specific point.”
