Demi Lovato, the musician, and former Disney Channel actress have resumed using “she” pronouns.
Lovato, who came out as nonbinary in 2021 and changed their pronouns to “they,” stated on the “Spout” podcast this week that they’ve “been feeling more feminine” recently and have reverted to their prior pronouns.
“I’m such a fluid person in terms of my gender, my sexuality, my music, and my creativity,” Lovato said on the podcast, a series of brief celebrity interviews.
Her Instagram account indicates that Lovato now uses both “they” and “she” pronouns. Additionally, she has stated that she identifies as both queer and pansexual.
Nonbinary individuals frequently use gendered pronouns or swap pronouns. Janelle Monae just come out as nonbinary and stated that they will continue to use “she” and “they” pronouns.
Lovato stated on “Spout” that while “everyone makes mistakes with pronouns,” “respect is all that matters.”
This month, the “Cool for the Summer” singer will release their second album, “Holy F**k.” One of the tracks, “Skin of My Teeth,” was inspired by Lovato’s health struggles following an overdose in 2018 that resulted in several strokes and brain damage.
She stated on “Spout” that she was sober during the album’s development, a fact of which she is “very proud.”

Demi Lovato and New Guitarist Nita Strauss Perform ‘Substance’ Rehearsal
Demi Lovato appears to be raring to go. On Wednesday (July 27), the singer teased a new song from her upcoming eighth studio album, Holy Fvck, which is set to be released on August 19. And, by all accounts, fans are in for a rollicking good time.
Former Alice Cooper band member Nita Strauss appears perfectly at home banging out the massive riffs on the new pop-punk rager “Substance” while giving powerful backing vocals as part of the all-female ensemble.
“So I wonder, am I the only one yearning for substance?” I got high, and it only made me lonely and loveless/ I don’t want to end up in a casket, head full of maggots/ Body full of jack s-t, and I receive an abundance/ Am I the only one yearning for substance?” On the song’s powerful chorus, Lovato wails. Demi captioned the video, “Can’t wait to see you all on tour.”
Strauss made her debut in Lovato’s band earlier this month when the singer performed “Substance” on Jimmy Kimmel Live! The band will hit the road for the first time on August 13 at the Illinois State Fair, followed by a gig at the Iowa State Fair the next night, and then the real tour will begin with a two-night stand (Aug. 30-31) at Espaco Unimed in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
Following some additional South American dates, the tour will begin in the United States on September 22 with a performance at Hard Rock Live in Sacramento, California.
Lovato is scheduled to be on the road until November 6 in Irving, Texas. The 16-track Holy Fvck, described by Lovato as a return to her pop-punk beginnings, will include the YungBlud collaboration “Freak,” as well as “Eat Me” with Royal & the Serpent and “Help Me” with Dead Sara.
“HOLY FVCK takes me back to my beginnings,” Lovato remarked in an earlier post about the track listing. “It’s an unapologetically my body of work, and I can’t wait to play it for you on tour!”
