Early Years
Horace Junior Grant Sr. was born in Augusta, Georgia on July 4, 1965. Horace was raised alongside his twin brother Harvey, and the rest of his family grew up to be extremely athletic.
Harvey played in the NBA for eleven seasons with clubs such as the Washington Wizards, the Portland Trail Blazers, and the Philadelphia 76ers.
Eventually, three of Horace’s nephews also became NBA players. Horace and Harvey attended high school in Sparta, Georgia, while growing up in Mitchell, Georgia.

Career
Grant began his NBA career in 1987 when he was chosen by the Chicago Bulls. In 1988, Horace secured a starting role after teaming up with Scottie Pippen to form a potent offense.
He, Pippen, and Jordan created an outstanding combination, and Horace made significant contributions to the team’s defensive efforts. In the following years, from 1991 through 1993, Grant and the Bulls would win three straight NBA titles.
Due to his myopia, he became noted at this time for wearing goggles during games. Grant continues to wear goggles to serve as a source of encouragement for visually-impaired children after undergoing LASIK eye surgery.
After Jordan’s retirement following the 1992-1993 season, Horace became one of the Bulls’ most significant players. In 1994, he participated for the first and only time in the NBA All-Star Game.
