On Thursday, forward for the Minnesota Timberwolves Taurean Prince was arrested at Miami International Airport on an out-of-state fugitive warrant issued by the state of Texas, according to Chris Hines of The Star Tribune. The state of Texas gave the contract.
Andy Slater of Miami’s Fox Sports 640 claims that the arrest warrant for Prince is for a drug-related crime, although Prince could be facing several different charges.
Baylor University, located in Waco, Texas, is where Prince, born in San Antonio, received his education. The Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center is the facility that took Prince into custody.
In response to the arrest, the Timberwolves released the following statement: “We are aware of the alleged report regarding Taurean Prince and are gathering more information.”
In seven months, Prince was traded from the Brooklyn Nets to the Cleveland Cavaliers to the Minnesota Timberwolves before signing with the Wolves during the offseason of the previous year.
A contract extension with the team for an additional two years and $16 million was reached between the two parties earlier this offseason.
After graduating from Baylor and being selected by the NBA with the 12th overall pick in 2016, Prince spent several years as a consistent starter, but he now spends most of his time on the bench.
He has played in the NBA for six seasons, during which he has recorded 10.5 points, 3.9 rebounds, and a field goal percentage of 41.6 percent. In addition, he has a three-point field goal percentage of 37.1 percent.
