Former “Jeopardy!” champion Mattea Roach shared his thoughts on the LGBTQ social movement as Pride Month ended.
Earlier this year, a 23-year-old Toronto, Canada, tutor who competed on “Jeopardy!” went viral online for her upbeat demeanor and hand gestures. NBC was chastised for a tweet praising Mattea’s success on the show by referring to her as a “lesbian tutor” rather than by her real name, even though she did not discuss her sexuality on the show.
Even though Mattea appeared to take the incident in stride, NBC and Mattea are collaborating to produce a series that supports young LGBTQ voices in the media.
