As a result, it may be incredibly sad to lose a member of that family, whether it be a fan-favorite on-screen character or a cherished staff member behind the camera.

The eighth and final episode of the eleventh season of Call the Midwife tugged at the heartstrings as the lives of various individuals hung in the balance, while also paying tribute to Kevin Corbishley.

On Sunday, February 20, 2022, the eighth and final episode of Call the Midwife season 11 debuted on BBC One and iPlayer.

At the conclusion of episode 7, the nurses and employees of Nonnatus House band together to assist those injured in the train accident.

As Dr. Turner and Sister Julienne were on board the train when it derailed, everyone must put on a brave front because their safety is in jeopardy. The personnel of Nonnatus House is reunited safely, despite Sister Julienne’s near-heart attack.

Call the Midwife Pays Touching Tribute to Kev Corbishley

After the Nonnatus House family was reunited in the final minutes of the episode, the closing credits paid respect to Kevin Corbishley, affectionately known as Kev, a member of Call the Midwife’s extended family.

The simple tribute title card read:

“In Remembrance of Kev Corbishley, 1965-2022”

Kevin Corbishley served as a standby rigger in the camera and electrical department for fifteen episodes of Call the Midwife between the year 2020 and his death earlier this year.

The beloved crew member worked as a rigger on the BBC comedy series Ghosts and in the art department of the 2012 film Anna Karenina, starring Kiera Knightley and Jude Law.

Fans Pay Their Respects

Following the show, fans took to social media to pay their respects to Kevin, his family, and the Call the Midwife community at large.

One Twitter user remarked, “Sending condolences to his family and all cast and crew members of the best television series” While another said, “Thank you to the entire Call the Midwife cast and staff.” Apologies for your loss, x.”

This admirer remarked, “Excellent episode. Thank you. A beautiful homage to your crewmember. Sincere condolences to his family.

Another Twitter user commented, “That tribute was incredibly heartbreaking, but it’s wonderful that a crew member was so appropriately memorialized. Gone too soon. R.I.P” While this heartbroken fan remarked, “I am so saddened to hear this. “Thinking of his entire family.”

This admirer concluded by writing, “Rest in eternal peace, Kevin.” Kevin was a deeply loved member of our staff, the official Call the Midwife Twitter account wrote.
