John Legend and their wife Chrissy Teigen have already announced that they expect another child this year, beginning a residency in Las Vegas and returning to his “The Voice” coaching duties.
However, the hardworking singer-songwriter and EGOT winner Legend has another significant release coming up: his eighth, a problematic double album titled “Legend,” which will be released on Friday.
Legend, 43, enlisted a who’s who of talent for his 24-track masterpiece, including superproducer Ryan Tedder and guests Muni Long (“Honey”) and Saweetie (“All She Wanna Do”). Rick Ross and Jazmine Sullivan in “Rounds” (“Love”).
Though he has been on the road for his Love in Las Vegas residency, which returns on October 14 for a month of performances, Legend speaks with us from his home in Los Angeles.

There Are Many Sexy Songs on This Playlist (“Strawberry Blush,” “Nervous,” and “Rounds”). How Much of an Influence Does Chrissy Have on Your Writing?
She has a significant amount of impact. Songwriters need to write from their own experiences and the truth as they see it. But not every song I’ve written is about this particular time in my life.
Some are about events that happened in the past, and others are based on tales that I’ve shared with my friends. Connecting with another person who motivates you and has depth, a history, and obstacles to overcome is lovely. It offers the kind of material that assists you in writing genuine songs with emotion.
Given the Past Heartbreak With Jack, Have You Worried About Making Chrissy’s Current Pregnancy Too Public?
I believe we are cautiously optimistic, which means that we are both. But eventually, we had to inform the public. We didn’t want people to make assumptions about her pregnancy if they saw her out and about, nor did we want to stay inside for nine months.
We decided to inform people when she started to appear simple. It doesn’t guarantee that everything will go as expected. We are merely unaware. And after a loss, that emotion is even more vital.
Chrissy Teigen and John Legend’s Epic Romance
While Filming “Stereo,” Legend and Teigen Began Dating
Legend and Teigen first met when she played the love interest in his music video for “Stereo,” which was included in his second studio album, “Once Again,” in 2006.
Teigen recalled their encounter in a Cosmopolitan interview in April 2014. She admitted that she was embarrassed by her actions in the video.

“I was doing this fake model-y dancing with the deadest eyes you’ve ever seen in a human,” she jokingly explained. “When I entered John’s dressing room to meet him, he was ironing his underwear.” ‘You do your ironing?’ I exclaimed. ‘Of course, I do,’ he replied, and I hugged him.”
Following the shoot, the two dined at Legend’s hotel, ordering In-N-Out burgers. They eventually got to know each other… better. “I’m not going to lie to you. Teigen cut to the chase, saying, “We hooked up.”
However, she observed that they did not become serious immediately.
“For a while, I let him be himself,” she explained. “The worst thing you can do is try to lock someone like that down early on, only for them to realize, ‘There’s so much more out there.'” I kept my cool for a long time. I never once asked, ‘Who are we?’ ‘Marrying was never my goal because I’ve never been a traditional person.’ I was just relieved to be with him.”
Teigen and Legend Met on the Phone and Fell in Love
Teigen and Legend’s relationship deepened after they exchanged phone numbers and began talking on the phone. “I fell in love with her over the phone because she is good with those 140 characters,” Legend joked in August 2016 to Entertainment Tonight.
“We were texting a lot at first, and I began to notice her sense of humor.” We’d talk on the phone, and I fell in love with how engaging, witty, and funny she is.”
“And I think that’s when I realized this was the type of person I wanted to be around a lot,” he said. “Once we spent more time together between tour stops and all this other stuff, we realized we had such a connection – and it blossomed into a marriage and a baby.”
Legend stated that he was not “nervous” when speaking with Teigen. He was “excited” about what was to come. “Oh, this could be great,” he said to himself.
In 2013, They Were Wed in a Courthouse
Legend and Teigen married in a New York City courthouse the day before their Lake Como wedding in September 2013. The pair donned matching black dresses to the courthouse ceremony.
“We got married after going to a couple of Fashion Week events at Vera Wang, who oddly created my dress, but we got married soon after,” Teigen, then 27, told E! One month after their wedding, news broke.
“We were oblivious that our Italian wedding would not be acknowledged until we had a proper ceremony in New York City.” So Irina Shayk served as our eyewitness!”
