During the first seven months of President Donald Trump’s administration, he worked as the chief strategist of the White House.
Early Life and Beginnings of Career
Stephen Bannon was born in Norfolk, Virginia on November 27, 1953, to Doris, a housewife, and Martin, a telephone lineman. He is partial to Irish and German heritage. Bannon attended Benedictine College Preparatory, a Catholic military school in Richmond, as a child.
Subsequently, he attended Virginia Tech and worked at a local scrap yard during the summers. After graduating from Virginia Tech with a degree in urban planning, he served for seven years as an officer in the US Navy.
He earned a master’s degree in national security studies from Georgetown University and an MBA from Harvard Business School during this time.

Three years later, Bannon and a few of his colleagues founded Bannon & Co., a boutique investment banking firm. While still managing the corporation, he became the director of the Arizona-based earth science research project Biosphere 2.
Media Vocation
By the early 1990s, Bannon had become an executive producer for numerous Hollywood films, such as “The Indian Runner” and “Titus.” Later, in 2002, he formed a partnership with entertainment industry entrepreneur Jeff Kwatinetz at The Firm, Inc.
This led him to conservative journalist and publisher Andrew Breitbart, who likened Bannon to the Nazi director Leni Riefenstahl. Bannon subsequently financed and produced crazy, far-right films such as “The Undefeated” and “Occupy Unmasked.”
Between 2007 to 2011, he served as CEO and chairman of Affinity Media. In addition, he served as vice president of the board of Cambridge Analytica, which illegally targeted American voters in the 2016 presidential election using data analytics techniques.
Bannon was a founder member of Breitbart News, an extreme right-wing website that publishes virulently racist, xenophobic, antisemitic, and sexist content.
This is one of Bannon’s most infamous media projects. In 2012, he was appointed executive chairman of the website’s parent firm, a position he briefly resumed in 2017 after a brief stint in the White House. Bannon was fired from Breitbart in 2018. Subsequently, he established Citizens of the American Republic, a dark money group.
Political Profession

Following his departure from the White House, Bannon traveled to Europe to speak at various far-right political events in an effort to create a global network of fascist parties.
Later, in August of 2020, federal prosecutors in New York charged Bannon and three other men with scamming contributors in a massive crowdfunding campaign claiming to raise funds for the construction of a wall along the US-Mexico border. Bannon, who pleaded not guilty, was pardoned by Trump before his trial date.
Arrest
US Postal Inspectors detained Steve Bannon aboard a 150-foot boat off the coast of Connecticut on August 20, 2020. The arrest of Bannon was related to a charity called “We Build the Wall.” Banon and many other suspected accomplices were detained for allegedly using charity funds for personal needs and purchases.
Guo Wengui, a Chinese billionaire and one of China’s most-wanted fugitives, is the owner of the yacht where Bannon was arrested. During the same week that he was arrested, multiple banks froze accounts associated with GTV Media Group’s fundraising activities.
Supposedly, Bannon and Wengui are the two major executives behind GTV, which raised $300 million through a private offering in the spring of 2020.
Social Media Ban
In November of 2020, after spreading death threats on social media against infectious disease researcher Anthony Fauci, Bannon was permanently banned from Twitter, just like his former employer Donald Trump.
