The Career of Tony Ferguson
In 2007, Ferguson began his professional mixed martial arts career by competing in local California organizations. In his early career, he defeated kickboxing champion Joe Schilling, which is one of his most notable victories.
Ferguson made his official UFC debut in the thirteenth season finale of The Ultimate Fighter, the season in which he won. He fought Kevin Lee for the interim Ultimate Fighting Championship lightweight championship.
The championship was ultimately taken away from him as a result of the horrific accident he endured. Despite this, his followers refer to him as the “People’s Champion.”
Ferguson was undefeated in his previous twelve bouts prior to his bout with Justin Gaethje. He attempted to win the interim championship for a second time, but “The Highlight” prevented him. His winning streak came to an end in his first fight of 2020, against Charles Oliveira at UFC 256. He was defeated by a unanimous decision.
Since then, Ferguson has suffered consecutive losses from 2020 to 2022. He was knocked out by Michael Chandler at UFC 274 most recently. In UFC 279, he is expected to fight Li Jingliang at welterweight.
The style of Tony Ferguson is insurmountable, and he has annihilated his opponents. His opponents find it difficult to catch up to and surpass him due to his speed and pressure. He is the most unconventional and unexpected Ultimate Fighting Championship competitor.
