Sam Smith Talks ‘Villain Era’ Before ‘Unholy’ Release (Exclusive)!
I am going a little crazy on purpose. Sam Smith is getting ready to embark on a new chapter in his life.
The vocalist discussed their new single, “Unholy,” with ET’s Matt Cohen, a piece of which has already been included in multiple TikTok posts in recent weeks.
On Wednesday at the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, the singer walked the red carpet at the Will Rogers Motion Picture Pioneers Foundation’s 2022 Pioneer Dinner, which honored Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson and commemorated 60 years of James Bond.
“It’s amazing. I can’t wait for you to hear the song because it’s incredible, and there’s now only the chorus available. The music is unstable, “Smith revealed. “I’m quite pleased with it. It’s a one-song theatrical presentation.”
Smith remarked with a sardonic grin, “My villain era, I believe, has come to an end. Get sexy right now.”
Even without Smith’s advertising or radio stations playing it, the little of the new song heard by fans has undoubtedly struck a nerve and is receiving a lot of love. It has acquired a significant fan base simply by having people admire it together.
“That is the allure of music—that I have no control over it. As a result, I’m overjoyed when it happens. I make music, write songs, and share them with the hopes of having an impact on people, “Smith elaborated.
Smith believes that the time has arrived for him to make a full-fledged return to the public spotlight, the music industry, and creative endeavors.
Everyone is eager to see and engage with people again after COVID, so I understand entirely, Smith added. “For the past three years, my life has been in flux. I turned 30; I believe I now know what I want to say, that I know myself a little better and that I am ready to have a good time.”
Smith’s new song “Unholy,” written with Kim Petras, will be published on September 22.
