Enola Holmes 2 sees its star discover she isn’t intended to be alone, even as she faces off against a new version of Sherlock’s archenemy, Moriarty. Netflix’s Enola Holmes films, loosely based on Nancy Springer’s best-selling novels, are a refreshing modernization of the Sherlock Holmes genre.

They tread carefully, using their young heroine’s struggle to navigate Victorian London to address societal themes that are still relevant today.

Since the first Enola Holmes picture, Enola’s life has certainly altered dramatically. She is no longer in hiding, but is instead working hard to develop her own detective agency to compete with her older brother Sherlock’s.

She ends up investigating a case that would never have occurred to Sherlock, the disappearance of a young matchgirl named Sarah Chapman.

It doesn’t take long for Enola to become entangled in a huge conspiracy; at one point, she’s framed for murder and would have been hanged if her mother Eudoria hadn’t rescued her. Finally, Enola must recognize that she is not alone – and does not need to be – if she is to solve this case.

What is the Expected Release Date of Enola Holmes 3?

We can make some educated assumptions, though, because the first film was released in September 2020, and the sequel followed in November 2022. The third film is expected to be released in late 2018, but we may have to wait until September 2024 at the very least.

There’s also a risk that Enola Holmes 3 may be delayed because Brown and Cavill are anticipated to be quite busy soon with Stranger Things season 5 and a prospective Superman movie, respectively, which could have an impact on Enola Holmes 3.

The Plot: What Can We Expect With the Storyline of Enola Holmes 3?

As with the first film, Enola Holmes 2 concludes the primary mystery and does not leave us on a dramatic cliffhanger to tease the third film.

Moriarty escapes from prison in the last minutes of the movie, so we know she’ll be back to wreak havoc in the threequel. Enola and Sherlock will now have the assistance of Dr. John Watson for any future mysteries.

The sequel took no inspiration from Nancy Springer’s book series, which inspired the films. While the third book, The Case of the Bizarre Bouquets, does introduce Dr Watson, Moriarty has yet to appear in the series, so we expect the third film to tell its own original story.
