One Piece Episode 1048 Recap

This episode was mainly about Yamato and her past, but before that, Luffy and the big Momo had some funny screen time. One Piece’s comedic timing is impeccable. Luffy rides Momo to Onigashima, but Momo is terrified of heights, and they both crash. The Heart Pirates and Shinobu continue to stare at them.

Returning to Yamato, we got a flashback to when she was a child when she first realized she wanted to be known as Oden and named herself Kozuki Oden.

Her father arrived just then, watching the shambles as she beat up all the men without even touching them, placing her in shackles by her pitiful father, who refused to acknowledge her as Oden.

She was bound in this horrible prison, where she meets the Great Swordsmen of the Land of Wano, a group of Samurai. She expected them to kill her, but they instead released her from the chains because they were also Oden’s allies. These samurai protected her, and they believe she will grow up to be a great fighter.

Yamato presented them with Oden’s journal, which she had discovered at the foot of Oden Castle, and instructed the Samurai to read it. Oden wrote of his travels there, mentioning how the Land of Wano was previously connected to the rest of the globe.

He predicted that in twenty years, youthful, strong pirates would lead the next era and storm the New World, bringing Kaido down.

Because twenty years would be too long for the Samurai, they opted to battle now. They knew they’d be slaughtered if they escaped, but they figured it was better than withering in the dark. Yamato has a purpose to battle Kaido since she has people who believe in her, and as a result, she promises to restore freedom to the Land of Wano.

One Piece Episode 1049 Preview

Luffy and Momo will ultimately fly to Onigashima in the upcoming episode, with Momo still fighting with his phobia of heights and Luffy constantly pushing him. Finally, we can see that they’ve gotten off the ground, and Luffy is holding on while having fun.

But it appears that they will crash land in the castle as Momo closes his eyes in fear and they both scream to death. But once they arrive, we may expect Momonosuke and Kaido to appear in a single frame in their dragon forms.

Of course, Luffy would help Yamato battle Kaido, but before she does so, she strikes Kaido on the head, injuring him in some way. Yamato’s hybrid form is far more powerful, and she is determined to free the land and not let the samurai’s sacrifice go to waste.

So the struggle in Onigashima will continue in the next episode, as will the fact that the fight is already intense and Yamato has not yet given up, but she is insufficient to defeat Kaido. However, the damage she has caused is sufficient for Luffy to take over anytime soon.
