Virgin River: The Season 3 of the Show might Get a Grand Welcome as it’s Expected to Arrive by the Year End

With 21 titles in the book, the story is far from over

Netflix’s Vitgin River is the kind of mellow, yet very soapy romantic drama that provides just the right kind of escapism that will keep your mind occupied during this lockdown season.

In season one, we saw Mel Monroe (Alexandra Breckenridge) leaving her painful past behind in Los Angeles and moving to the tiny (and fictional) northern Californian town of Virgin River to become a midwife and nurse practitioner. But soon she realised that escaping her past wasn’t so easy and that the new town came with its own share of drama.

Season two arrived on November 27 despite the pandemic and it proved itself to be even better than the first, with surprising reveals, breakups, makeups and ultimately ending in such a huge cliffhanger that it would be criminal not to make another season.

But not to worry, because on Friday, December 18, Netflix announced that they have renewed the show for a third season. Every major character will return, including newcomers Zibby Allen and Stacey Farber. Allen will play Jack’s sister while Farber will be Lilly’s daughter.

The series is based on Robyn Carr’s book series of the same name, which comprises of a modest 21 volumes, so you know there’s enough material for more seasons in the future. This was what showrunner Sue Tenney also said during an interview with TVLine, that even if the series deviates slightly from its source material, it will end up the way Carr intended.

Tenney said that they’re trying for as many seasons as they can, and when they get to the finale, it will be the way Carr has written.

Production for season 3 has begun and it’s expected to arrive in late November 2021, if all goes well.
