Netflix continues to keep equal attention on the anime audience as the fans of live-action series, and has now ready to release its next major title – The Way of the House Husband.
The series will be a comedy and is adapted from the manga series Gokushufudō by author Kousuke Oono. The anime will be produced by J.C. Staff who had previously done Netflix Original animes like The Disastrous Life of Saiki K, Backstreet Girls, and Hi-Score Girl.
The plot and cast
Tatsu used to be a known face in the criminal underworld, and was a legendary Yakuza member, having defeated an entire rival gang single-handedly by using just a lead pipe. Both the police and criminals knew and feared “The Immortal Tatsu.” But he suddenly vanished when he was at the top of the food chain and resurfaced a few years later, but this time as an honest-living and respectable househusband to his wife Miku, who has a corporate job and poor homemaking skills. As a househusband, every day is a new challenge for Tatsu as he juggles house duties and supermarket sales.
As for the role of Tatsu, he will be played by Kenjirô Tsuda, who had also done a promotional clip for the show’s live-action series. Tsuda had voiced numerous anime characters in his career, and the popular ones are Seto Kaiba from Yu-Gi-Oh, and other roles in Free!, Jujutsu Kaisen, One Punch Man, K, Tokyo Ghoul, etc.
Manga source
Currently, the manga has 67 published chapters, making it 6 volumes. There’s a high chance of the anime covering a majority the published chapters in one season. From the looks of it, the anime will be adapting 42 chapters in the ten episodes it has.
Tune into Netflix on Thursday, April 8, 2021.
