The fourth installment will be releasing in 2022

New set photos from Thor: Love and Thunder  via Daily Mail shows Natalie Portman’s Jane Foster and how she looks before becoming the new Thor. Portman’s return as Jane Foster was the biggest surprise when the movie was announced at the San Diego Comic-Con in 2019. Portman hadn’t been seen in an MCU movie since Thor: The Dark World, even though there had been unused footage from previous appearances used for Avengers: Endgame. Foster’s return, and the fact that she will be the next Thor and weild Mjolnir was a cause of great excitement among the fans. Check out the images below.

Jane’s transformation into Thor, as well as Christian Bale’s MCU debut as the villain Gorr the God Butcher are two of the biggest highlights from the Taika Waititi-directed movie. There is a lot of curiousity among the fans on how Jane’s story will be. In the comics, Jane became Thor after she was diagnosed with cancer. However, Mjolnir’s power and her Thor transformations made her chemotherapy ineffective. Waititi has yet to confirm if he’s following the cancer storyline, leaving fans to speculate.

It’s Marvel after all

From the set photos, it looks like Jane is healthy, but there could be more to that. Marvel has proved their excellent VFX skills through which they de-aged, aged, and digitally manipulated the actors’ looks. They could easily make Jane look pale and tired just like how they made a youthful Michael Douglas at the start of Ant-Man.

Jane’s story and her well-being is definitely a matter of great interest. These images show that she will be visiting New Asgard at some point, and since Tessa Thompson was also present, this could mean Jane and Valkyrie will be having some interactions.
