It’s official that there’s going to be a fourth season of Cobra Kai. The Karate Kid spin-off, which started off as a YouTube original, has now been bought by Netflix who made the 3rd season and announced the fourth. An official release date hasn’t been set, but we can expect it to arrive in 2022.
Now if you’ve been up to date till season 3, you can see that the story is building up to something huge, and the waiting period has just become more heated. Showrunner Jon Hurwitz hopes to start filming in the upcoming months, after figuring out some of its specifics and making sure all covid protocol are in order.
The story so far
By the end of season 3, every logical adult belonging to Cobra Kai got together and requested the All Valley Karate tournament to be cancelled, their argument being that the tournament isn’t worth teenagers hospitalizing one another. A good point, considering Miguel ( Xolo Maridueña) was in a coma when season 3 started.

But Miguel and Sam (Mary Mouser) gave a heartfelt speech about how much the tournament means to them, and in the end the adults had to consent. A bet followed next. In the contest between Cobra Kai, Johnny Lawrence’s new dojo Eagle Claw and Daniel’s Miyagi-Do, if Cobra Kai doesn’t win, it will be disbanded. If not, they will continue and Kreese will be the sensei.

The events preceding the tournament is going to be the main focus of season 4 and the hype is like never before. With major arguments happening between the two dojos to the surprise arrival of Ali (Elizabeth Shue) who managed to open both Daniel and Johnny’s eyes, the series has come a long way. And we can’t wait to find out what else is in store for us.
