Will the so-called Indian alternative for House of Cards have more stories to tell?

Tandav released in its entirety of 9 episodes on Amazon Prime this January 15. The political drama tells the story of politician Samar Pratap Singh (Saif Ali Khan) and his attempts to rise in power

It soon got reviews such as ‘India’s version of House of Cards,’ the hit Netflix political drama starring Kevin Spacey and Robin Wright. That’s because Samar is someone who is cunning, ruthless, and won’t let anyone stop him from reaching where he wants.

There is Samar of course, who tries to gain control over the masses through his cunning, scheming, and unscrupulous political methods. He later seeks help from a student named Shivar Shekar (Mohd. Zeeshan Ayyub) in an attempt to get the younger generation to vote for him.

Shivar however, has his own goals and sets up a political party called Tandav to start his political career. Tandav, for those who are unaware, means the cosmic dance that Hindu God Shiva did which symbolises the interplay of dynamic and static divine energy flow.

The other cast members in Tandav are Dimple Kapadia as Anuradha Kishore, Sarah Jane Dias as Ayesha Pratap Singh, Kritika Kamra as Sana Mir and Sunil Grover as Gurpal Chauhan. The series was created and directed by Ali Abbas Zafar, who had helmed movies like Sultan, Bharat and Tiger Zinda Hai. Currently, Tandav has become Zafar’s biggest hit and has already guaranteed future seasons for the series.
