Producer Hiram Garcia confirms that the DC project will start filming in Georgia

Black Adam producer Hiram Garcia has confirmed that the highly-anticipated DC movie will start filming in Georgia in April 2021. Black Adam will be played by Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, who has been attached to play the character for over a decade. Johnson was going to play the ancient Egyptian antihero in 2019’s  Shazam! starring Zachary Levi, as well as in an earlier draft of 2016’s Suicide Squad. But given his stellar stature in the industry, the former WWE star was asked to star in his own solo film which is set 5000 years after the imprisonment of the warrior ruler of Kahndaq.

The movie was being talked about for a long time, and if it weren’t for the pandemic, it would already have been in post-production. After its initial announcement, it took some time for the movie to get moving. It was starting to gain momentum after it was teased to be a part of the DCEU lineup at the DC FanDome. The idea was to start filming in July 2020 and release it in Decmeber 22, 2021. But the pandemic happened and the movie had to be pulled out of the calender indefinitely.

Fans were worried that the movie will be delayed further when Johnson reassured them by posting about his intense workout regiment for the movie. On Tuesday, Hiram Garcia, the president of Johnson’s Seven Bucks Production confirmed the filming status. Garcia added that he’s not only excited about Adam, but the live-action debut of the Justice Society of America (JSA). The JSA are a group of underdogs who seek to uphold justice. They include Noah Centineo’s Atom Smasher, Aldis Hodge’s Hawkman, Quintessa Swindell’s Cyclone, and Doctor Fate, who hasn’t been casted yet.
