Eight years late, but worth the wait
The Devil is a Part Timer! is officially returning with a second season and no one, not even the most hardcore fans expected it. One of the biggest, most unfortunate drawbacks of the anime industry is that in many cases, there is no guarantee that a second or third season arrives, even if the story is far from over.
The first season of The Devil is a Part Timer! arrived in 2013 and was very well received, but afterwards, everything has been quiet for eight long years. Fans did their fair share of campaigning, but there is only so much they can do.
The return of the (devil) king
The announcement trailer came as part of the celebration of Satoshi Wagahara and 029’s original light novel series, from which the anime was adapted. The cast is expected to return, and from the trailer, it’s understandable that a new production staff is working on the project and not White Fox studios who did season one.
The returning cast includes Ryota Osaka as the Devil King Satan, or Sadao Maou, Yoko Hikasa as the Hero Emilia, Nao Toyama as Chiho Sasaki, Yuki Ono as the Demon General Alciel or Shiro Ashiya, Hiro Shimono as the Demon General Lucifer or Hanzo Urushihara, and Kanae Ito as Suzuno Kamazuki. The first season of the comedy series is currently available for streaming on Netflix, Hulu, and Funimation.
The Devil and his general Alciel lands on Tokyo after being beaten by Emilia the Hero. In order to live in this new world, the Devil ends up making s new identity for himself and starts working at a fast food joint before he can execute his world domination plan. The hero also follows him to Tokyo and ends up working as a telemarketer.
Season two will have a major new character, who completely changes the lives of the lead characters, and some new adventures await them.
