Samberg added that while they will be addressing serious matters, they can’t be expected to solve them. The Saturday Night Live alum also said that they will have to address these while maintaining their comedic roots. The show will not be shying away from discussing the topics worth discussing.

The actor plays detective Jake Peralta in the cop-based sitcom and he believed that they always presented the police force in an authentic manner, but this time, they are forced to step back and take an introspective look at themselves. He said it’s going to be challenging to address ongoing problems while also avoiding “punishing viewers who like our show and care about our characters.”
