The actor has left following the criticism that came his wife Hilaria Baldwin’s was for faking her Spanish heritage and accent

Actor and Saturday Night Live cast member Alec Baldwin has temporarily bid goodbye to Twitter on Monday night.

Baldwin, 62, posted on Twitter on Monday night that the social networking site was a party where people are “screaming.” His exact words were, “Twitter is like a party where everyone is screaming’. Not much of a party. Goodbye for now.”

Alec’s decision to quit Twitter comes weeks after his wife Hilaria Baldwin was heavily criticised for faking her Spanish heritage and accent. Hilaria, 37, is a yoga instructor, podcaster and influencer who was born in Boston, Massachusetts, but has spent time in Spain while growing up.

Hilaria responded to the criticism in an Instagram post that she and her husband “celebrate both cultures in our home,” meaning they were raising their kids to be bilingual. Baldwin supported his wife through an Instagram video where he said that when you love someone, you will want to defend them, and also urged the viewers to “consider the source.”

The trolling began in December when a 2015 video clip of Hilaria surfaced, where she made a TV appearance and struggled to remember the English word for cucumber. She clarified later that it was one of her first TV appearances and was nervous.

Netizens grew more confused when they saw Hilaria speak with a Spanish accent at times. This wouldn’t have been all the rage if Hilaria hadn’t spoken about her father, real estate lawyer David L. Thomas Jr. taking his family to Spain where they developed “deep, deep, deep bonds.”

However, she didn’t provide any additional details of her stay in Spain, where she came to be known as Hilaria, and trollers ruthlessly made fun of her.

Also, the Baldwins have five children with Spanish names.
