On Thursday afternoon, the 79th Venice Film Festival presented “Tár,” a drama directed by Todd Field and starring Cate Blanchett as a famous composer who becomes engaged in a public scandal.

The movie was met with a euphoric standing ovation that lasted for six  minutes, and the audience inside the Sala Grande Theatre kept yelling  “Bravo!” throughout the entire time.

After what seemed like an eternity, the clapping came to a stop, and a  teary-eyed Cate Blanchett turned to a member of her crew and said,  “Let’s have a drink.”

The overwhelmingly positive reception to the film almost ensures that  Blanchett will receive her seventh Oscar nomination for her acting in  the picture.
